Game 4 - Kennett / Unionville

It was a bad day on a nice field in at Kennett High School. Not only did players, coaches, and fans have to suffer the relentless, nonsensical jabbering of the Kennett-Unionville announcers, our Termites were shut out 26-0 by the Titans. Our first two offensive series ended in fumbles which the Titans recovered and converted into touchdowns. Although the Titans were able to score twice more in the second quarter, our Termites defense shut them down completely after halftime. Also neither our offense nor defense had a penalty called on them all day. Bobby Bell, Jr. and Jared Babe were everywhere on defense getting in several tackles each. David Bodkin and Noah States both had nice chase-down tackles of Titans backs who broke free. Mike Clark, Mike Davidson, and Mike Ventura were great at getting in the Titans backfield and Ventura caused a fumble on one of his rushes. Frequent participants in gang tackles were Brendan Walker, Nick Carmona, Jeff Dalessio, Brody Butler, Andrew Ketler, Shane Dougherty, Colin Conmy, Brandon Anderson, Michael Porreca and Walter Bernard. On offense, Michael Gallager, Billy Betson, and Toby Gavin battled it out on the O-Line, but missed snaps and blocking were again our main problems. However, Gaige Lennon and Jimmy Moorhead fought hard for short yardage and Paul Munro connected with Brett McLaughlin for a nice pass in the fourth quarter. It was a tough loss, but we'll get 'em next week, boys!

Game 3 - Rose Tree Colts

The 80lb JV’s put up their first points of the year, but were beaten 12-6 by the Rose Tree Colts on Homecoming Saturday. The Termites owned the second quarter as Paul Munro gobbled up short yardage runs. Bobby Bell, Andrew Ketler, and Toby Gavin made some great blocks on the O-Line to allow Jim Moorhead to not only break off a 15 yard on 4th & 14, but on the next 4th down to score our first points of the year…as Coach Paul went crazy! On the defensive side, Jared Babe recovered a fumble while Brendan Walker, David Bodkin, Shane Dougherty, Walter Bernard, Noah States, Brody Butler, Colin Conmy, Brett McLaughlin, and Brandon Anderson all got in on gang tackles in the Colts backfield. Both Gaige Lennon and Michael Porecca had great open-field tackles. Although we dominated the second quarter, the Colts scored in both the third and fourth quarters, despite two fantastic tackles by Billy Betson in the red zone. Although we lost, Homecoming Saturday was a blast! Much thanks to the cheerleaders, team moms, coaches, parents, and players for a great day!

Game 2, September 8, 2007 - Marple Tigers

The Termites lost a hard-fought game 6-0 to the Marple Tigers on Saturday. Our offense couldn’t get it going but our defense shined, keeping the 2006 Eastern Division Champions to only six points. The combination of Michael “Animal” Porreca rushing the passer along with Brody Butler and Gaige Lennon defending potential receivers led to several incomplete passes by Marple. Also, Bobby Bell caused a Tigers’ fumble which David “Reeses” Bodkin recovered. In the third quarter, Jim Moorhead laid a fantastic hit on a Tigers’ running back while Andrew Ketler and Paul Munro finished off the tackle. Toby Gavin, Michael Ventura, Brandon Anderson, Michael Clark, Nicholas Carmona, Brett McLaughlin, and Shane Dougherty all got in on gang tackles for the Termites defense and in the last series, Billy Betson showed how it was done with a textbook wrap-and-drive hit! For the offense, Jeff Dalessio, Noah States and Michael Davidson all had good carries in the backfield. Lastly, Brendan Walker, Colin Conmy, Michael Gallager, and Walter Bernard all played well but the Tiger’s defense proved very tough all day long. Still looking for our first offensive points, the Termites gear up for next week’s Homecoming game. Good luck, boys!

Game 1, September 1, 2007 - Brandywine, DE

Our season opener was a disappointing one as we were shut out by Brandywine, Delaware 19-0. However, our kids showed a lot of heart and gave it their all until the very end. The Termites offensive line, including Brendan Walker and Billy Betson, had their hands full trying to keep out Brandywine’s good defensive line.Paul Munro, Michael Davidson, Jared Babe, and Noah States all had runs in which they had to fight their way out of the backfield. Gaige Lennon juked and cut his way for some good yardage near the end of the game, but unfortunately the clock caught up with him before he could scamper into the end zone. On the defensive side, Jim Moorhead was excellent at getting into the Warrior's backfield and Brett McLaughlin, David Bodkin, Andrew Ketler, Colin Conmy, Brody Butler, Michael Ventura, and Shane Dougherty, all recorded tackles and caused four Brandywine fumbles. One of those fumbles ended up as a turnover, recovered by Michael Porreca. The Termites defense also stopped two out of three of the Warrior's extra-point attempts. Our boys played hard all game and learned a few lessons about blocking and tackling along the way. With a good week of practice, they’ll bounce back for next week’s home game against the Marple Jr. Tigers!
